Paris Hilton is currently promoting her latest movie The Hottie and The Nottie. Can that Nottie girl get any fuglier? The title should be Exorcist: Heiress Possessed with that ugly girl as Paris after the Devil takes her soul. The story could be about a rich girl who sells her soul to the Devil because her grandfather drops her off his will and so she has to take a job at Carls Jr and....Ok that sounds too close to reality!

Anyway so Paris is promoting her new movie which I'm pretty curious to catch. You see Paris has been seeing an acting coach! E! Online reports she said "I think a lot of people see me from the The Simple Life. I've been doing that show for five seasons, and it's a reality show. People think that is really how I am. It's not, though. I've been working with Ivana Chubbuck, who is an incredible acting coach, and I worked very hard for this. Now they will take me seriously."

She also talked to E! about her other movie project, Repo! The Genetic Opera "I just did a movie with Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed the Saw films. And Paul Sorvino plays my father, and Sarah Brightman plays my nemesis. It's a musical horror film, and I'm never blond in the movie at all. I always have different hair, different eyes. You could never tell it's me in every scene. I play Amber Sweet, she's the daughter of the guy who owns the company, and she's a little demented and crazy. She's obsessed with plastic surgery, always changing the way she looks, because she wants to get all this approval."

That Carl's Jr commercial and The Simple Life didn't showcase much acting skills from Paris (nor did they require any) so these 2 movie projects have gotten me quite curious to see Ms. Hilton in action in front of the camera (no sex tape reference please!).

Chanel - one of the most elegant brand and logo in fashion. Even the name rolls with elegant ease off the tongue. Before the name was known the world over as a fashion giant, Chanel was a woman. A woman who once said "simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance." With a motto like this, Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel gave birth to the concept of the little black dress.

Coco Chanel was born in August 19, 1883. Like most women who have started to age, she would give people a birth year 10 years later. Her beginnings were very humble - Chanel greeted the world in a poorhouse.

Her first designs were those of hats, more hobby than a full time profession. Apparently her genius was there from the very beginning for this hobby caught the attention of a Parisian elite. The discovery opened French doors for Coco Chanel. A string of romances with wealthy men didn't hurt her career either.

Coco's style was simple elegance all throughout her career. She wrote off the corset and replaced it with simple suits and dresses, women's trousers and the like.

Women all over the world agree with her motto of simple elegance. Agree so much that the madame is the only person from the fashion industry included in Time's 100 most influential person of the 20th century.

Her designs never have and never will go out of style the same way a single white rose is beautiful in the eye of all beholders.

An artist working amidst poverty and Brazil's shit

The graffiti works of Brazilian artist Zezao, or Titifreak to his fans, is known around the world. He has also worked for Nike and can be seen wearing Nike trainers stamped with his name.

Zezao's latest endeavor is not one easily seen by the world however. BBC reports the artist has started work in San Paolo's sewers. A dangerous task that required several vaccination shots.

His reason to work on this disgusting canvas? "I did this work because I wanted to show the architecture and the conditions of tunnels of Sao Paulo, which is this - degradation, rubbish - everything that the rain brings."

As for the medium that got him famous, beautiful graffiti works are sometimes painted on upon orders of the city. It's not just the ugly writings on the wall that has met some disapproval from the public.

Sao Paolo's Museum of Contemporary Arts, however, displays works of graffiti artists.

I love how the museum's director, Lisbeth Gonvalves, shed some light about this matter,
"If you in fact meet a great artist doing a work of art in your home you would take great care of it. But because it is an anonymous piece of work, people feel a bit hostile about it being on a wall in a public place, but this part of urban life."

Eccentric, controversial, fashionable, some might even call her insane. Rightfully so if one wanted to be known as a living work of art. Marchesa Luisa Casati was one of Europe's most controversial women from the last century.

In 1881 she was born to a life of luxury in Milan to wealthy cotton manufacturer Alberto Amman and his wife Luisa Adele Rosa Maria Amma. Marchesa was orphaned as a teenager, her parents dying just two years apart, and this left her and a sole sister to be reportedly the wealthiest women in Italy.

Marchesa was muse to many writers. She delighted and also shocked society with her peculiar ways: she had evening walks naked under her fur coats with pet cheetahs on diamond-studded leases, wore live snakes as jewelry (she checked in the Ritz in Paris with her pet boa which managed to escape), and nude servants attended to her.

Seeking immortality through art she commissioned many artists to create her image through paintings, sketches and sculptors. Marchesa Casati is a true fashion icon, one that will move through centuries and not just seasons. She is next only to the likes of the Virgin Mary and Cleopatra in the rampancy of artistic depictions.

Sadly she died poor, mainly from all the debts she acquired in her lavish lifestyle. She had after all traveled throughout Europe amassing castles, hosted the most lavish parties and collected a menagerie of pets (her greyhounds also wore diamonds). Although penniless in London where she had relocated, Marchesa Casati was seen rummaging through dumpsters in search of feathers to adorn her head. Poverty was not allowed to kill her style.

Imagine the paparazzi/tabloid frenzy she would caused had she lived in our time! The Spears, Hiltons and Lohans of this world would fade as magazine side columns next to this cover-worthy femme fatal. The 'It' girls of today should learn a thing or two from Marchesa Luisa Casaiti. Bring on artistic eccentricities if one must be controversial. That way you go down on the pages of historical books and not just next week's bathroom read.

Well I guess Amy should now just hope this video will actually bring her more publicity and cash to support what should be an expensive hobby (think Kate Moss and her income rise after her coke-snorting video was exposed). Controversial chess legend Bobby Fischer died yesterday of an disclosed illness in Iceland.

Fischer was American-born but renounced his citizenship. He moved to Japan and stayed there in hiding for some years. in 2005 Iceland granted him citizenship. This way he wouldn't be deported back to the States. In 1992 Fischer was accused of breaking international sanctions when he played a match in former Yugoslavia.

He wasn't very popular in the American public due to his anti-Semitics remark and support for the 9/11 attacks. In an interview in Philippine radio, he called the tragic attack "wonderful news".

"They constantly use the words eccentric, eccentric, eccentric, weird. I am boring. I am boring!"

* Tiny metal knobs labeled with the Juicy Couture engravings are found on a majority of Juicy Couture products. Plain knobs are found on many fakes. Same goes for the charms on Juicy Couture items.

* Check the color of your bag with Juicy Couture originals you see in stores. A lot of fakes have colors that are significantly different from the real deal.

* Some fakes do come in quality leather but most still don’t so cheap leather is a quick giveaway. Make sure the tags say 100% Cowhide leather. If it feels and looks cheap, stay away! The lining should feel soft and the leather finished with a matte look. Quality leather is softer to touch than rough and thick cheap leather.

* Check the quality of the stitching.

* Make sure it is labeled with word “Shop!” on the interior lining. Good quality fakes have this so seeing "Shop!" inside isn't a surefire giveaway. But NOT seeing this label is a surefire way of knowing the item is fake, fake, fake!

Billboard writes that AEG Live/Goldenvoice, the producers who give us the world-famous indie music festival Coachella, will put together a music fest this summer at Liberty State Park in lower Manhattan. A Radiohead show was staged here in 2001, a little bit of time after 9/11.

This event will not carry the Coachella name.

2008 full-year sales is expected to grow its slowest since 2002 at a rate of 3.5 % according to The National Retail Federation (NRF) in CNN Money:

"Shoppers will seek to pay down debt, spend more in line with income growth, and approach discretionary purchases with more restraint," she (NRF chief economist Rosalind Wells) said.

Wells said the constant speculation about whether the economy is heading into or already in a recession also negatively impacts consumer sentiment.

"It makes consumers nervous. Recession isn't a sure thing but we know that they're already feeling the slow growth in the economy," she said.

She said retailers across the board, from luxury to online sellers, will feel the pressure as more practical consumers trade down in prices.

"In 2008, the challenges will be formidable for everyone," she said.

Guess who a salesclerk from Sherman Oaks, CA is talking about in a Life and Style article:

"I grabbed a dress to cover her and she screamed, 'Get away from me! Don't you fucking come near me! Then she disappeared in the dressing room with Adnan for 45 minutes. They were making weird noises. It was disgusting."

"I couldn't understand a word she was saying. She was slurring and spitting, and talking with a British accent. Her face was covered with cold sores and acne, and her scalp was patchy. I wanted to help her, but she was so mean that I left her alone. Then she muttered, 'Fuck you!' and left the store."

I didn't bother to omit the mandatory photo I always decide to put in every post because even without the photo everyone should guess this statement is about the "Baby One More Time" pop star.

This alleged event happened in a Betsey Johnson store in Sherman Oaks, CA. I live in Sherman Oaks! I'm glad I didn't walk in when this happened. I have enough head trauma as it is from my own antics.

The infamous head-shaving incident in the photograph above also happened in a nearby city in the Valley (San Fernando Valley to you who don't know LA). Britney should STAY AWAY FROM THE VALLEY! The "Porn capital of the world" seems to have an effect on her. Apparently she is in her craziest around my area. Hey maybe that also explains my own crazed personal behavior! Time to move to The Hills. The boring, boring Hills.

Her story is just as striking as her face. Wikipedia.com incompletely reports she started a fruit stall business, enrolled in a modeling school and then went to castings where an agent told her she could make it big if she learned English. Natalia has said on several TV interviews she was actually discovered while manning her fruit stall in her impoverished Russian hometown of Gorky (now Nizhni Novgorod) by a scout from Paris.

The "Tips and Tricks for looking your best in mugshot photos" article should be a must read! Mine needs major tweaking. The alleged crime was fashionable, the look wasn't.

Kids, crime does not pay! But as this is a gossip blog, let's discuss something inane yet fun to talk about (as goes the most proper way to gossip). Which is your favorite celebrity mugshot? And can you come up with a better excuse than the following:

1-) I had to take Vicodin and Marijuana because of my period, Your Honor. Vicodin makes people drive on the wrong side of the freeway. It says it on the pill bottle. I made sure to read the label right before I drove.

2-) The pants I was wearing with the cocaine in them weren't mine, Your Honor. I don't snort blow that isn't mine.

One of the 2 men who was trying to squeeze money from Scientologist Tom Cruise over stolen wedding photos with Katie Holmes has been given a 2-year suspension. The other man accused in this extortion case committed suicide last year in Arizona, 2 weeks before his arraignment where he was supposed to plead guilty.

Everyone always says Tom Cruise has a lot to hide!

Who are these 2 ladies? The new bond girls for the next 007 film! The woman on far top is Olga Kurylenko (I'm glad I don't have her name!) is a Ukrainian model-turned-actress. Columbia Pictures says about her role in the Bond film, "the dangerously alluring Camille, who challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper's betrayal".

Second is Gemma Arterton who will play M16 Agent Fields.

I remember when the first Daniel Craig bond movie came out and it was such an unpopular casting choice for the next James Bond. Pierce Brosnan was a tough act to follow . I had my misgivings but after watching Casino Royale I was impressed. Plus hardcore fans of the series say Daniel Craig is very close to the original written description of the world famous spy.

Jamie Lynn, her pregnant 16-year old sister, stole her shine and Britney just said "no, no" to rehab, had a huge media-infested drama (complete with choppers flying over her Beverly Hills mansion) concerning her kids and an alleged drug overdose...but I don't think those things shock the public anymore when it comes to our dear Southern Brit Brit.

What does shock me however (yes she still got the power to shock me! The powers that gave Starbucks world domination probably rubbed off on her after all the frapuccino she has guzzled) is her new-found "relationship" with a member of the paparazzi! A guy named Adnan. In fairness he has a British accent. Haha!

Isn't that like Rosie O'Donnell dating Elizabeth Hasslebuckbock from The View??? Or Donald Trump dating Rosie??? Or Donald dating a non-supermodel???

One of my favorite websites for drugstore beauty products is Drugstore.com (paired up with Beauty.com) because they offer free shipping on orders over $25 and it's a one-stop shop place for me to find my favorite drugstore favorites...which seems to be a lot of people's favorites too because nearby stores here in Los Angeles run out of them.

No these companies didn't pay me nor PinkMySYLE.com to mention them. Ads go on the right column of this blog, posts about great brands and stores are all personal recommendations.

That said, one of my favorite drugstore makeup would have to be Revlon's ColorStay eyeliner. Drugstores like CVS don't run out of these fully but they do run out quickly of everyone's favorite eyeliner shades like black and dark brown. I once settled for Teal but it didn't do the job.

Drugstore.com also run sales of a bunch of popular items like Cetaphil and St. Ives lotion. If you tend to stockpile on a particular bathroom item I'd suggest get it here. You'll get a bigger discount, get to participate in their cashback rewards program, and free shipping without pushing a shopping cart.

Doesn't Baby Phat, Kimora's fashion line, use fur on some of their stuff? Looking at Baby Phat's website as of today I see their outerwear line only uses faux fur. But I see real feathers are listed as "ingredients". Now let's not discriminate against duckies just because they're not as cute as rabbits and their poop is ickier!

And what's with the new anti-PETA campaign, Peta Kills Animals? Those are some crazy statistics if they are indeed true.

Case in point year 2005:

Adopted = 146
Killed (sorry, activists, let me use PC-term "Euthanized") = 1,946.

PETA probably just took in the really really cute 146 animals so Paris and Britney could adopt them and give them names like Bulgaria, Vodka and Valtrex.

Let’s face it: Fashion is everywhere. It starts even when we were still tots.

I was dressed by my mother with the cutest layette outfits. There is a picture of me in a pink floral dress with matching bow and my feet were covered by adorable baby Mary Jane shoes. Even my three month old godson is in style. He received a Juicy Couture outfit and Ju-Ju-Be diaper bags for his mom Frenchi plus for this little future soccer player: the original England Fifa shoes for infants from his fairest godmother of them all.

Looking back, it was my fashionable grandmother who had always insisted to doll me up for Sunday church and who has been my fashion guru. At age five, I was wearing a sailor-inspired navy blue dress and the prettiest white sandals. But too bad for me there was no trip to the Nantucket!

I then started taking ballet lessons as a little girl which probably explains my obsession with ballet flats! Not only do they make walking feel like air walking, they are so dainty and will always be in style.

My love for fashion became clearer when, at age nine, I played dress up with my cousins at my grandmother’s house. Even if my feet were still a bit small for her rosette adorned sandals I wanted to fell pretty and wore her polka dot dress along with her Louis Vuitton French bag on hand.

While others played dress up as Disney princesses, I wanted to look like I was ready to nail a photo shoot. I know, what in the world was I doing in my grandma's closet when I should had been into stamp collecting and reading Sweet Valley Twins like my other friends!

For most people having wide feet is a nightmare. Not for me, I was happy to fit like Cinderella in her glass slippers in grandma’s Gucci loafers. I’d rather slip into them than my reliable Ked sneakers or the year’s “IT” shoes like the old school K-Swiss.

Since I attended an all girls school, I got my first runway experience. We had modeling for a cause to raise funds and I happily volunteered to model one of those party dresses. But honestly the fabric was itchy! Attending an all girls’ school was like being in an Emily Post finishing school. Beautiful rich girls wearing Ferragamo shoes and headbands. Jelly shoes were also a hit and even designer handbags...on 14 year old girls!

I remember we had sewing classes using the most dinosaur-ish machines and, worst, we had to model our handmade projects at term’s end! A confession: I had our maid buy my final “project” in a local swap meet. Ha!

Oh and then came the most awaited night: Prom night! It was like Paris Fashion Week minus the escargot…from the most extravagant princess ball gowns, to the sexiest cocktail dresses down to Miss Universe-ish gowns.

During that same year, the movie “Clueless” became a big hit, not only for the “Whatever” or “As if” quotes but the fashion. At one birthday party, I wore a Clueless Cher inspired tweed skirt with vest and pointy mules with kitten heels completed the getup. When others thought it was a tad too much my friend Mimi loved. It was gutsy. That was the beginning of my fashion revolution. I’m sure deep inside those girls were alligator green with envy because I pulled it off. My grandmother was right after all, it is better to overdress than to be under-dressed. This still resonates every time I do not know what to wear in an occasion.

Through the years of traveling (I will talk about my travels more at a later time) to my home away from home London where Oxford street meets high street fashion, and having tea in Harrods is an experience...to the streets of Milan where gorgeous girls strut designer clothes like Giselle Bundchen walking the Victoria Secret runway...to the unparalleled fashionable city Paris: the hub haute couture where using UGGS boots can be a faux pas…fashion is just really everywhere. No matter who you are, how big or small you are, or whoever your favorite designer is, fashion is definitely here to stay….
